Dandeli is located in Uttara Kannada District of Karnataka state in India.
Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary is a birdwatcher's paradise, home to nearly 270 species of birds, with the great hornbill and the Malabar pied hornbill being the most famous. The sanctuary is also home to the Indian sloth bear, Indian pangolin, giant Malabar squirrel, dhole, Indian jackal, and muntjac (barking deer). Common sightings include the Indian elephant and Indian peafowl, while the king cobra and mugger crocodile (Indian crocodile) are the main reptilian attractions.
The dense deciduous forests of Dandeli, interspersed with bamboo and teak plantations, are rich in both flora and fauna. Crocodiles are a major wildlife attraction here. The sanctuary offers a rare experience of bird watching and crocodile spotting, whether through forest walks or simply observing the diverse reptilian and amphibian species inhabiting the area.
Another main attraction is Dandeli White Water Rafting trail stretches to a distance of about 12 Km. Prepare to feel the 'rush' while Kayaking & Whitewater Rafting down the Kali River.
