Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary is a notable avian sanctuary located in the Indian state of Karnataka. Situated on the banks of the Kaveri River near Srirangapatna in the Mandya District, it spans an area of almost 40 acres and was declared a bird sanctuary in 1940, following the persuasion of the noted ornithologist Dr. Salim Ali.
This sanctuary is a haven for a wide variety of birds, including both native species and migratory ones that visit seasonally. It hosts numerous bird species like painted storks, spoonbills, white ibises, egrets, herons, and pelicans, among others. Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary, located in the Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka, India, is a premier wildlife destination in the Western Ghats. Established in 1956, it spreads over an area of approximately 834.16 square kilometers, making it the second-largest wildlife sanctuary in Karnataka. This sanctuary forms a part of the Anshi Dandeli Tiger Reserve and is recognized for its rich biodiversity and stunning natural landscapes.
The sanctuary is nestled amidst dense deciduous forests and boasts a rugged terrain interspersed with rivers, valleys, and hills. It is home to a wide array of flora and fauna.
